How can you even begin a comparison without SOS. SOS is everything behind wins and losses. It is much more important than margin of victory.

Best example I have is 1983 Nebraska. Played no one all year and won by an average of 30 a game.

First and only top 10 team they played all year beat them in the bowl game. Until then they were being called best team ever by some.

Last year some were asking if Bama was the best team ever. Until they played the only team on the schedule that would finish in the top ten. They lost then lost to the second top ten team they faced.

You start with wins and losses, then look at SOS. Margin of victory is a VERY distant third to those two.
