Yes. If all is out in the open, most people will seek treatment if ever hung on a substance. There is really zero logical argument for prohibition. We already know drug use has continued to rise despite it, jails are full because of it (non-violent drug offenders), and other countries have decriminalized and have had strikingly positive outcomes.

It boils down to the good ol' no knock raids, where police across the country are able to plug their asses with a copy of the constitution, blow it out their arse as they invade a home and climax as they slam unsuspecting "drug offenders" on the ground in a way to mimic their anger for why they're caught in their current circumstances.

Treat all drug use as alcohol. That shite has killed countless people from my family. The black market is no place to conduct business, and the whole argument of a less safe society with legalization is asinine considering drug cartels run shite and peddle it on back allies.

ETA: And prohibition has led to the likes of Meth. Good shite, amiright? So much better than the alternative.

frick yes. Let adults make their own decisions as long as they don't harm others.

Yes, they should be legal to a gram. That way you don't put drug users away, but suppliers. Cops should just destroy everything up to a gram. Everything after, you get prison time. Users are chump change, and the costs of the fines don't equate to the price you pay for that person to be in jail.

Sure, why not? I can see some good reasons for legalizing at least a bit of it. Maybe it would help prevent people from screwing around with the reeeally scary shite like Krokodil, and I would think legalizing it would make treatment and counseling programs easier/less stigmatized to get access to for people that need it. Also, Colorado is making a killing off the cannabis industry, so it seems like just a matter of time before other states follow suit, and other policymakers decide to take this little experiment a step further, for that reason alone.

And what would it do to organized crime? The cartels in Mexico make money hand over fist selling drugs in the US, so I'd imagine that legalizing drugs would either undermine them and take away their main revenue source, or just drive them to make their money by selling even more dangerous drugs, or turning to even more nefarious industries (human trafficking being the main one). I don't have a crystal ball or really know enough to know what would happen in that regard, but it's worth considering!

And then there's just the simple fact that our drug policy as it stands right now is accomplishing very little, and MAY be doing more harm than good. Outlawing these drugs and imprisoning people for it hasn't stopped people from doing the shite, and so a lot of neighborhoods are very unsafe thanks to a black market industry that has mushroomed from it all. I don't really know what the answers are, but I'm fairly certain that the status quo isn't working.
