That's a very good point. You might see something in the way of a development league form if the NFL feels like they don't have as much talent as they used to. Then, if you're an athlete, what would you rather do, go to college, or try out and make a developmental squad w/ a direct in to an NFL team. Lots of possibilities out there.

Smaller schools can't afford to pay their players anything. Thus, the differrence between the have and have nots is going to get wider. Very few teams are going to be able to compensate their players at the level of Big 5 teams.
