The New Monsters of the Midway
He sometimes gets slighted by not being mentioned in the same breath as AJ and Julio over on tRant, but he had a better individual season (2011) than both, and is proving his worth in the NFL.
Probably my favorite USC player ever.

Marshall had already set a new standard, but Jeffery was something different. Marshall was established when he arrived in Chicago. Jeffery was one of our own. Matt Forte, whom the Bears took in the second round in 2008, has long been one of the most reliable and underappreciated offensive players around. But in Jeffery, Chicago had a handpicked 23-year-old who went beyond reliable. His raw totals were impressive (89 catches for 1,421 yards), but the best part of watching Jeffery every week was seeing what he might do next. He wasn’t just a receiver. He was a fireworks show.

FYI the article is mostly a/b Phil Emery and changing the defense-first culture of the Bears. Alshon features prominently throughout, though.

Alshon was special ... we knew it, but his combine suggested otherwise along with his weight issues.
Clearly he just needed to be challenged.
Totally agree that he was under-appreciated by the other SEC fan bases.

He counts as my 13 Rd pick this year in my FFB Keeper league.
I'm gonna run that league like a Boss.
I get to keep Manning (the good one), Alshon, and Gio.
Manning costs me a 1st Rd pick ( but he had twice as many points as the highest scoring RB in my league b/c we use bonuses.)
and
Gio counts as my 5th Rd pick
I couldn't keep Charles and Dez from last year's team, b/c they were drafted too high the past year, but my team is still going to dominate.

I think Manning takes a nose dive this year.
I dropped Alshon after a couple of bad performances to start 2013. He went out and set the Bears franchise receiving record the next wknd.
