Really good job, CIYE...

IMO, we are WAY out of it with Holyfield and Davis. Davis seems to be freezing SC out, which is fine, but just tell the coaches you're no longer interested. He's ALL dawg and it's really not close. Holyfield, I follow a few UGA beat writers and he was in Athens hanging out with Mark Richt on the day of our showcase. SC is obviously not a priority for him.

I respect the coaches for still fighting hard to recruit but I think we need to focus our efforts elsewhere...

I've never understood it but coaches do that on a regular basis. I think it has something to do with egos.

I remember Brad Scott staying with kids, wasting time, thinking we were going to recruit against the big boys back in those days ... when he could have been building with blue collar players if he had had a decent staff.

A lot of wasted effort and resources and a lot of failed classes ... especially along the lines.

Skip did it too to a lesser extent. Dirty Dave actually coordinated everything back then but Skip made the final decisions (which I always thought was a huge mistake) and he favored JuCos - which were short term fixes. In the meantime he'd direct all of our attention to certain kids that we rarely had a shot-at where it would have been much wiser to move-on.

These days though, usually, if we're still recruiting them come August we've got a shot in the minds of the coaches ... someone, usually Whammy, is telling Bubba, "hey, we might get this guy if we keep showing him the love."

Kids these days, especially kids in Georgia for some reason ... really need stroking. There are other things that may be playing into this as well. These days our staff knows as much about Georgia's numbers and needs as Georgia does ... and visa versa. Same goes for Clemson. We all know what they all know and that's who can take whom and how many there are to give.

Hell, NC State and Va Tech have made their livings in SC and GA by knowing who the leftovers are going to be from GA, SC and CU.

Picking-up UGA's leftovers have proven to be very very profitable in the past.
