Not sure if serious. French typically refers to dry vermouth and Italian to sweet. There are certainly French-produced sweet vermouths, but I've no idea why you would specify one unless you had a particular one in mind...

Give me bourbon in any glass and I'm happy. I've had many Makers Manhattans but never knew the true recipe. I took the recipe and made some corrections (that's why it's in quotes). I'm an alcoholic not a bartender.
