Two things of note. The pilot gets paid pretty well for that type and size of aircraft. Second a WestWind can be had for about 300k and while not a bad aircraft is old. Gulfstream was forced to takeover its support after purchasing IAI. The design dates back to Rockwell Jet Commander in the sixties and while updated, design and safety has evolved well beyond the WestWind. If you want to put your cash cow in such a machine that's ok, but most big corporate entities don't. For a reason.

Thats what I got out of the article. When it broke down in St. Louis, I would have demanded a newer plane. Keep it and let the others fly around in it.

Probably already happened and no one knows the tail number yet.
