SPARQ is a fantastic, standardized way to evenly and electronically measure the athletic ability of players. It's just one of the tools used to measure the current ability of players, but it's not the whole picture. How the guy looks on tape, performs in drills, works at practice, plays in games, etc...is also a part of the rating/ranking of the player.
SPARQ is valuable to measure players like the NFL Combine is to the Pro's. They get guys to run/execute the drill under the same conditions/surface/temperature/date as a bunch of other guys.

Yeah, sure.
You think Spurrier, Saban, Richt, etc, have ever asked for a recruits SPARQ score for an eval? How far can a slot receiver or corner throw a medicine ball from a kneeling position? Please.
The whole thing is a production for television.

They make them run similar drills at their camps, often times offers are contingent upon how they do. So they might not ask, 'what's your SPARQ score," but they do want to know how those guys are doing. Plenty of recruits try to say they run a 4.4, but more than half who say it, don't. So the coaches like to see for themselves. duh.

What I find most interesting with the SPARQ score is test taker percantiles.
When you see a 4.62 is in the 98th percentile, you begin to question how every other 3 star recruit is purpotedly 4.4 guy.
