If it's unearned, it's not worthy of being proud of.
Question, are you not proud to be a UF fan and their championships? I know UGA hasn't won much lately but I'm still proud of their championships despite not playing for them.

I think any fan who directly supports their team with purchasing tickets or donating to the cause has the right to claim some pride about it.

Keep in mind that there are different definitions of 'pride' as well.

Being "Proud" can mean "content" or "happy" about something.

We're talking about personal pride.

"A sense of one's own worth, and abhorrence of what is beneath or unworthy of one; lofty self-respect; noble self-esteem; elevation of character; dignified bearing; proud delight; -- in a good sense."

Your black, white, Hispanic or Asian historical roots should not make you feel as though you are worth more or even make you feel a sense of accomplishment.
