Lindy's Southeastern 2014 Preview............

Does anybody else still buy this magazine every year?
It obviously can't keep up with the internet and the rest these days, and so some of it's already obsolete (Tray Mathews, etc) but it's a ritual I can't quit. Always seems like the first wake-up call that makes you realize how close we really are to a new beginning of this thing. And it's pretty much the same format every year. A constant. Although it seems like it keeps getting issued earlier and earlier.
Also, it's always entertaining to go back and read it again while taking a dump when the season is over.......and see how dead wrong all of the predictions and insights were..

I usually read the anonymous "Opposing Coaches View" about each team first............Sometimes, you can kind of figure out who that coach might be. Or at least which team they might work for.
Here's part of Georgia's......
"Rumor has it that they're so untalented that they've only got about two players on defense that could play at Alabama or Florida State............"

I guess, I'm just going to give y'all the Cliff Notes of this thing...........
There's an article on longest continuous SEC assistant coaches. Guess who tops the list?
Yep. THe next closest to Bobo is Steve Spurrier Jr at South Carolina. There's four other coaches that have been assistants longer than Bobo, but not all at the same school.
Bobo is quoted saying that the advantage of his tenure is that there's so much film of the same plays over and over again, and so that makes it easier for new guys to learn the system....
Hey Mike. Do you realize that the other teams have a decade's worth of your film to study as well? shite.

No UGA cheerleaders featured in the "Sidelines" Section, as usual.
The UCLA gal would get it first. HOnorable mention to the South Florida brunette with the blonde peach fuzz on her belly.

Glad this is only a rumor. I can count 6 starters that would play plenty for those schools. \
ETA: I have to run to Wal Mart soon anyway, so I'll probably pick it up if it's available. I can't put the magazines down myself. It's annual thing that gets me in the mindset for football season - I feel your pain.

I knew Vad Lee left Tech. But, I didn't know that Vad Lee left Tech to go to fricking James Madison. Holy shite...............

I was floored when I heard that a while back. That's bad. I hope he was encouraged to leave or something.

I bought mine on the road, so it has Tennessee/Vandy players on the cover.
Who is on the Georgia cover? Gurley probably, and who else?

No clue. I'll let you know once I go. I'm so far up in North Georgia (back home) that I typically get the Tennessee covers. Disgusts me.

Best take a dump reading is the 87 bass pro catalog. Lost it a few years back, taking a dump has never been the same.

The last time UGA opened the season beating two teams that finished in the Top 25 was in 1983 (UCLA and Clemson)...
Both Clemson and South Carolina finished in the Top 25 last year.

Wal Mart had shite for SEC selection. There were a couple of fantasy football previews, NFL previews, It's Football Time in Tennessee with a big picture of Butch Jones, an ACC preview and some other national college previews. I chose Athlon's nation preview with the Southeast cover - it had Gurley, Mike Davis and Winston on the front. Guess I'll have to drive to Barnes and Noble or something for a better selection.

Doesn't Athlon usually predict each game on the schedule for every team in their preview mag? What games do they have UGA losing?

Did you go to Chattooga High School? If so....when?

Didn't predict specific games unfortunately, but it predicted us to go to 10-2 (6-2), win the East and lose to Bama in the SECCG. It also predicted USCe to go 6-2 in conference play, so that wasn't one of our losses.
Puts us in the Peach Bowl against Marshall. Christ.

Indeed, started in the fall of 2002 and graduated in '06.
