How is the law written in Mississippi concerning car insurance? Even people with out-of-state license plates are required to have insurance just to pass through Mississippi?

the question you should ask yourself is what reason do you have for NOT having your insurance card on you?

There is no federal law that requires motorists to have car insurance. Not all states require it either.

I guess that I'm mainly wondering how Mississippi law enforcement can claim that they can enforce Mississippi's car insurance laws on the OP--since his vehicle is apparently not registered within Mississippi's borders...and if he were from say New Hampshire, Virginia, Wisconsin, etc. where they don't require car insurance, would he have to buy some kind of temporary insurance for 3 hours just so he could pass through Mississippi to get from Louisiana to another state?
