Let me say first that I hope you're correct. I can see you've gone full tilt Disney and that's great, but....
It's also kind of hard to turn on a dime. I expect us to be better - but even a little better still results in alot of points being given up.
Well no shite....but we don't have a Bama level defense. We have a GA defense coming off their worst year in "100 years of football". If we improve by 100% then it will only be the worst defense in 50 years of GA football. Can Mason and Gurley carry that load?
There are 3 things that need to happen IMO for us to have a stellar year:
1) Gurley needs to stay healthy
2) Defense needs to improve to average
3) Bobo needs to adopt a ball control philosophy to take pressure off our defense and control the clock.
I don't include Mason in that because he will be fine if we can accomplish the above. I'm just witholding judgement on our defense until after Clemson. The standard mantra for coaching changes is "rebuilding" and I don't see why Pruitt wouldn't require this as well. The guy deserves reasonable expectations.

I wouldn't say I'm full on delusional disney, I like to think I'm in the middle (would be obvious reading my posts after losses), but I don't think pointing out stats is necessarily disney?

I don't expect us to turn on a dime. I don't expect us to be a top 10 defense. I fully expect us to be better, if for no other reason than it would be virtually impossible not to. If our defense just prevents 1 score less per game that's pretty good. 4 of our losses last year were 1 possession games. Another loss was a 1 possession game with about 5 minutes left. We dont' need to shoot up 50 spots in the rankings, just need a little improvement.

1) Obviously. Every team in America's best player needs to stay healthy for them to succeed.
2) I'm pretty confident it will. I see no reason why it shouldn't.
3) Bobo is the least of our concerns. He's been tremendous the last 2 years. And I think he is smart enough to know that with our secondary being such a question mark, it would behoove us to run some clock.

He does have reasonable expectations from fans. I don't think asking to go from complete and utter horse shite to somewhere hovering around average is expecting too much.

This gif shows Dallas Lee and Chris Burnette being excellent guards that allow Gurley the opportunity to be great.
They both gone now.
#64 and #68 getting it done against the one of the best defenses of all time.

I have been hearing so much about him recently, that I had a dream about Todd Gurley last night. No, not THAT kind of dream. We rode in a church van to the game and he showed me pictures of his cat. It was sort of anti climactic.
Anyway carry on.
Anyway carry on.

churchh=richt. van/bus same thing. Richt is driving the bus. Makes sense, dead on. Richt is our captain and he's driving the energy bus.

todd has ownership of something. He is proud and wants it on display to show the world. He wants to show us something.

HIS cat. He owns it. It's his pet. Cats/roosters...sort of similar in size. Fur/feathers.
Tomorrow, Todd will take ownership of the gamecocks so badly they could be mistaken for his pet. Something he toys around with and has such an easy time doing it it's like he's taking a picture and putting on display for the nation to see.
Dammit finley the prophecy has been channeled through you. I change my score prediction. Dawgs 57, SC 3.

Cool...season's over! Hell that didnt' last long....what did we win?
I admit...when I reread my post I was thinking "oh shite" but I stand by every word. Remember...we've only played one game.
But look at my 3 keys to a great year:
1. Gurley stays healthy
2. Defense improves to average
3. Bobo adopts gameplan to control clock
Obviously, #1 goes without saying but the past two years he's gotten dinged up and missed games. Let's hope that doesn't happen this year - especially given his production against CU.
For #2 we looked great against CU but I'm sure we can all admit that 21 pts in the first half isn't good and the secondary was shaky until we started putting more pressure on the QB. I'm optimistic at how the buttoned it up in the 2nd half but lets see how the season progresses. Again...one game...
#3 is what I was most impressed with vs. Clemson. We totally dominated in the 2nd half and controlled the ball. I can't find our time of possession for the 2nd half but have to think it was pretty lopsided. I don't think I'm the only one that was plesantly surprised that we didn't try to get cute....but just kept pounding the ball since it was working.
I said I'd withhold judgement until after Clemson and will say that I (and I think everyone else) was surprised at how well our defense played in the 2nd half after a sluggish start. If we pick up in Cola where we left off then I'll be the first to say that Pruitt is an honest to God miracle worker.
Feel free to keep bumping this as it appears Bobo is following my lead...
