Not if, but what excuse they will use to explain why its different for the SEC.

The "excuse" of only playing 8 conference games is the same for both Leagues: each conference has 4 members that play an intrastate rivalry game. Those teams want to maintain the rivalry game and have the freedom to schedule 3 OOC games.
In general, the other major conferences don't have to deal with this issue.
