Richt is a hell of a coach. The GA athletic department has saddled him with very difficult schedules. One year GA played AZ St., OK St. and GA Tech out of conference. It's ridiculous to expect titles when you have a brutal schedule. The two years they won the SEC, there were two undefeated teams out there, so they didn't get to back their way in to a title game the way many SEC champions have.

This is another point that UGA fans make yet others accuse us of "whining" or "making excuses". In the last 20 years of the SEC:
96 UF
03 LSU
06 UF
07 LSU
08 UF
11 bama
12 bama
13 AU
have all played for a national title while having at least 1 loss. 01 UT would have played for it as well with 1 loss had they not been upset in the SECCG. There is certainly a fair amount of good fortune needed to win it all, and those teams got it. But hey that's life.
