You're asking a barner to separate luck and skill. Not happening.
Auburn came closer to winning the BCS two other times than Georgia ever did. This is on top of the BCS championship Auburn actually won. Auburn went undefeated in 2004 and gave up the winning touchdown to Florida State with 13 seconds remaining in the actual championship game in 2013. Georgia never went undefeated during the BCS era and they never made it to the championship game either
