Call me conspiracy, but I think that Saban pushed the whole 9 game schedule as a front, so Bama could refute the natural assumption that they are soft for trying to keep the Tenn game. They were never going to a nine game schedule. They are saving the nine game schedule for when the conference goes to 16 teams, so they can save the Tenn game once again.
