Yep, pretty hilarious that some teams count all those borderline titles. That is why UGA only claims 2, though I'll always say we should claim '46 too. The 6 is "recognized" titles, as in a poll that carried some credence at the time named us a NC, but not necessarily the UPI or AP.

If UF got in on the act and wanted to count every single time they've ever been named a national champion in their history too, they could count all of 5!

You find me 11, because I only count 6.

Edit: And no, y'all shouldn't claim 1946. Only 1 selection (and it wasn't the AP).

I don't care enough to go look through an inaccurate document for info that doesn't matter. I'm not claiming 11, UGA isn't claiming 11. We could if we wanted to count every single time we could've claimed one. The same way of counting that would give Alabama 28 National Titles and Florida 5.

Yes, we should claim '46, we were the only unbeaten and untied team and it was given to Army for obvious reasons since WW2 just ended and they were a good team. We beat better teams by larger margins and played a tougher schedule than them or ND. We were better than them and Notre Dame, but no chance the media bias at the time was giving the title to a southern team over those two. Neither of them went to a bowl, while the only other unbeaten and untied team, UCLA, lost their bowl game. UGA went to the Sugar and beat the shite out of #9 UNC.
