That's my point. Stupid fans have not hurt the LSU brand. Their actions only affect media and message board comments. There is no real, tangible degradation to the "brand".

Maybe, maybe not. As I said, if the actions of a fan cause one talented child to go elsewhere it harms your institution.
You are 100% correct that the actions of a fan won't determine YOUR job offer or a career. But personally my identity as an Aggie is tied to much more than my career.
