Well, the original Rev was a common mutt some cadets rescued off the side of the road. Didn't switch to the collies until the 3rd Rev iirc. A Smokey dog would be....interesting, tho 
(I love Smokey btw)
And my goodness everyone hated the Rev when I was a cadet. That fleabag even bit her MC on a run one time
