Saban has always preferred to pass off of the run, and obviously this is mandatory with a young QB.

In the 9-6 loss to LSU, Saban didn't trust McCarron to make the throws, and when he did, he got burned by Claiborne, which resulted in the Maze pass-Reid INT.

Later in the BCSNCG, Saban was persuaded to rely on McCarron and they passed for 16 out of 18 first downs on their way to a dominant victory. Ever since then, Saban's teams have been dependent on the passing game.

I don't think it helped that a spotlight was on the OL's run blocking "technique" either. Regardless, the Bama offense has gotten away with not having a priority on the run game. The backs are definitely not lacking in ability or numbers, so I would expect a change in emphasis in regards to offensive philosophy.

Really not very different than the situation at QB for LSU. I like our horses better than Bama's at this point. I like our defense as well as Bama does theirs. I'm all for LSU being the recipient of great QB play from an underclassman for a change. Might be all the difference in the outcomes of our matchups, annual or otherwise. Lol
