First, how many abortions are due to birth control not working vs irresponsibility? Promise you the later far out numbers the former.

Also, you're talking to someone who experienced multiple pregnancy scares with my SO, even when using BC, and was each and every time ready to accept my potential new fate as a father at the age of 19. Only to find our after the last one that at no point in time was she ever planning on keeping it.

We're no longer together.

People need to grow up, the government doesn't need to be encouraging irresponsibility.

People need to grow up in a lot of respects, but unfortunately those same people are not the ones in our current system who end up paying for their mistakes. I'd rather not be paying for more welfare babies and working with children with disabilities simply because their mother couldn't lay off the crack pipe.

There needs to be responsibility all the way around. It's not just a woman's issue. Despite your statement to the contrary, it's not a woman alone that produces a pregnancy. I'm all for tougher child support laws, because right now they're about as flimsy as it gets. But it goes deeper than that. If you truly want to eliminate the number of abortions you're also going to have to relax adoptions laws in this country (why do you think people go elsewhere for abortions these days?) and stop cutting funding from Child Protective Services so that they have more staff to remove children from bad homes and places to put children who will be born into a situation where they're not wanting by either party.

But majority of the people who are wanting to eliminate abortion don't even bother to look at the bigger picture. It's utopian to think that everyone is going to be a responsible adult capable of raising a child.
