SeriouslY? I have a daughter. had she been raped and the University asked me if I wanted an investigation, I would be livid.

And some families might feel that an investigation would cause them to go through a lot of pain and wouldn't change the awful outcome for their daughter. Their daughter chose not to report it. Maybe the family would choose not to have a public investigation. These aren't as far-fetched as you're making it sound. And I have two daughters.

The university is not released from conducting an investigation without the parent's consent. And that was the key flaw in their handling of the situation. How it conducts the investigation is probably greatly affected.

And any investigation by the university isn't a police investigation. Just to keep that clear. It would be a Title IX investigation.

Unlike a rape and suicide, you mean?

Their daughter chose not to report it.

And she says she did not report it because of backlash. So...if you are intimidated not to report a rape, then it is ok?

Probably. however, ethics and integrity come into play. If I send my child to a school, I think the school should look after the best interests of my child, don't you?

Seems logical. But if they can uncover the truth, then I would think it is well worth the time and trouble.

Hey, I admit I was trying to get a rise out of you guys. But, in my research to gig you guys, I saw where Missouri SEEMS to try to keep a clean athletic program. I saw much to admire in that. You guys have a lot to admire about your athletic dpartment. I am sincere in saying that. I still feel they mishandled the swimmer situation, and came dangerously close to mishandling the DBG situation. Only fans of the school keeping their feet to the fire and watching will keep your school from dropping to levels other schools have dropped to.
