I don't know about other places but it would be easy for the Ice Vols to be elevated to Varsity. We have both TBA and the Civic Coliseum and TBA could be used in a pinch/scheduling conflict. Hell, I've seen TBA converted into rodeo use and then back to basketball ready in a day. Since we restored the Tennessee Theatre (and if any of you get a chance to see any kind of performance there GO! you won't regret it - the restoration is awesome) we can shunt concerts there.

UT and Knoxville have the facilities to make this work without having to build anything.

Colonial Life Arena in Columbia already has the glycol lines in the flooring, and separate hockey locker rooms. When the Inferno were in Columbia, both they and the USC club team played out of the Carolina Coliseum, right on campus.

TBA couldn't be made into an ice rink. The underground stuff has to be built beforehand, and dimensions are probably off. SLU just built a basketball arena that looks like it would be perfect for hockey but it can't be turned into a rink, I've heard that even with an expensive renovation it couldn't be done.

Knoxville would need another rink.

And it's not just simply elevating to varsity, the club team would remain just as they are, a totally new program would be started with new people.
