There are alot of academics who don't give a shite about the athletic side of things. If a college athletic program can prepare the athlete for the professional world, athletically, what is wrong with that? Why is that less significant than anthropology or forestry?

That's a little bit of a reach right there, if you had insinuated arts and humanities I possibly could get behind that statement.
