quote:

“Anyone I know, well, their first thing is, ‘How is Coach Spurrier?’ I always say, ‘Man, this guy, he works. He wants you to be the best you can be.’ ” Thompson said. “That’s something I really love about him. If you put your time in in the weight room, in the film room, in the practice field, in the summer and in the offseason, you’re going to be rewarded. He demands perfection, but we have a good time with it, too. It’s not like some burden that hangs over you. You know what the expectation is for your work ethic. You’re either going to get there or you’re not going to play.”

Was it good to have Spurrier come out and say, "You’re the guy?"

“It’s cool,” Thompson said, “but I kind of figured it.”

Nice read. Thompson should be pretty solid, and definitely sounds like he's got the work ethic to be the top QB in the SEC this year.

Where did he play in high school?

I like Spurrier's endorsement of Dylan but was anyone else a bit surprised SOS said that there's nobody that will challenge him? Is that just Spurrier being Spurrier?

Yea I was surprised and think its dumb. If someone were to outperform Thompson in fall camp I'd expect them to be the starter.

Spurrier ought to have learned his lesson about sticking to senior QBs when Garcia lost us the Auburn game in 2011. He shouldn't have seen the field after throwing 4 picks against Vandy

Probably a bit of everything. It pumps Dylan's tires, and rewards him for all of the hard work he's put in. He really does appear to be 100% dialed in to being the QB this fall.

But it also sends a message to Noso and Mitch. This guy has so thoroughly outperformed you, that you have little chance of beating him out for the job. Lights a little fire if Mitch wants to be the guy next year.

I used to think DT wouldn't be the starter by the end of the year. Now, I'm not so sure. If he's really assuming that leadership mantle, this is going to be his team this year.

Spurrier is just trying to fire the guys up behind Dylan. Would be great if all three QB's were locked in, working hard, and competing for the job. Just some motivation for them.
