Since this thread is still going, I figure it's probably also worth mentioning that Athens-Clarke County is a rather bizarre area in terms of law enforcement. ACC is the smallest county in the state and also has three police forces that share jurisdiction. You have the Athens City cops, the ACCPD, and the UGAPD whose jurisdiction is any and all areas surrounding campus (and given that campus buildings are literally scattered all across the county, their jurisdiction is basically limitless). So, three police departments, three separate mouths that need to be fed with citations and arrests. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

NYC will be here shortly to tell you that more police presence does not result in more arrests.

That's the situation in most college towns. University Police, city police and county police/sheriff. UGA isn't unique in that regard.
