what kind of snake was it?
See below...this is when shite gets real. A friend who lives in sydney Australia sent me this. this is a king brown snake. about 9 ft long. And thats not a real huge one. Deadly poisonous, very aggressive and they have no problem with urban areas.

Australia is full of deadly and aggressive shite that are not human friendly. They have the great white, the box jellyfish, the funnel spider, the brown snake, and the only poisonous mammal! Australia is like the exception to every rule, and hence does not count. It is also all the more reason not to live there no matter how hot the women are.
