You understand all those guys gained valuable experience and playing time their FR years right? As well as, made a difference on the field.

If they were RS and then got injured, you piss away 2 of their 5 years. Now, they've only lost one year. We recruit these players to make an impact on the field. Missing almost half of their elligibilty on RS and injury years isn't the goal and doesn't help the team.

Your argument basically boils down to believing there is no difference in Whitaker playing in the SECCG and BCSNCG in 2010 or him RSing that year away in street clothes on the sideline.

If they redshirted and got injured they can still apply for a medical hardship waiver for a 6th year. That is how Case Keenum played 6 for instance
