I agree to an extent, although it would have to be an ELITE class.

It takes a class McDonald's AAs like Kentucky has gotten.

Other wise it is a 3-5 year road for all other programs in the SEC.

Recruiting rankings don't mean jack in basketball, quantity will rank higher than quality, if they are not playing in the McD AA game they are not elite ready to contribute blue chip recruits.

Since 1977 Auburn has signed 2 McD AAs, Frank Ford in 1983, and Korvotney Barber in 05.

For other SEC schools:

Kentucky - 44
Florida - 18
LSU - 15
Arkansas - 12
Alabama - 10
Georgia - 9
Tennessee - 7
Missouri - 5
Carolina - 3
aTm - 2
Vandy - 1

Being on the same level as Kentucky is not what I meant by competitive I meant finish in the top 5 of the conference standings and be seeded in the top half of the NIT

so Bruce Pearl had the success he did at Tennessee with two McDonald's AA? Scotty Hopson was the first he ever signed (was extremely overrated coming out of HS), and he coached Tobais Harris for one season. I don't think he'll have quite the immediate success he did at UT, but it's not going to take as long as you think.

btw, what's your definition of competitive?
