Actually, I was born in Mississippi, not Tennessee, so we were too mired in poverty to file for bankruptcy. Losing all your money is a rich man's game, son.

Cheers to that, a lot of good folk come from Mississippi.
This is going to seem un-Texan of me, but sometimes I admire the poverty of Mississippi. It makes (SOME) people appreciative of what they have and a simpler life. It makes Mississippians more resourceful and more connected to the environment.
Every time I visit family in Mississippi I am reminded of what made this country great. The internet speeds suck WAY too much for me to live in the parts that I would live in, but I do think the big tree farm we call Mississippi is filled with good folk.
