Dumb. After the 2011 season we lost 5 of our top 7 tacklers including 1st rounders, Melvin Ingram and Stephon Gilmore.
After the 2012 season we lost 7 of our top 10 tacklers including the four top tacklers and all of our LBs. Devin Taylor and DJ Swearinger had good years in the NFL last season as rookies.
This year we lose 4 of our top 10 tacklers.

There is a big difference in those years and this one. The drop off in talent on the roster. You seem to be under the mistaken impression that SCAR just continually reloads which couldn't be further from the truth. As shown by this year, not even Bama does that and if they can't, neither can y'all. SCAR lost 3 of the 4 biggest talents on the DL. You're lucky that Surratt made the mistake of returning because IMO the only other guy on the roster that has a chance to fill even Sutton's shoes is Griffin. Jury is still out on Lamin, as always with JUCOs. You really sell those 3 DL short. I understand you want to pimp the new guys, but last year is one of the best DLs as a unit that SCAR has ever put on the field.

Also, which of these CBs on the depth chart is going to step up and even be a vague approximation of Hampton? Not even mentioning Legree or Christian. That is a gaping chasm on your defense, and it isn't like you have some national title or Broyles winning DB coach in Grady Brown. You guys are moving running backs over just to have the bodies needed. Be interesting to see how he deals with the scant depth.

You talking about Clowney? This board and ESPN told me that he took the year off and was lazy and wasn't very good. Can't have it both ways.

I'm not the rest of this board or ESPN. He is EASILY the best player to ever take the field at SCAR, Rogers is the only other guy in the conversation. He is your Herschel Walker and just like HW, you'll spend 30 years waiting for another guy that can even walk in his shadow.

Yeah, he didn't play his best last year, but he was still far and away the best player you had.

You'll find that just isn't true. We don't have anyone on Clowney's level (obviously) but we have talented guys that got some PT last year.

That bold part is quite the understatement. Again, he is irreplaceable with your current roster. That '15 kid might be elite in his own right and something like a Clowney-lite, but he still a year away.

To tie this back in with the actual topic, who is Thompson going to be throwing to anyway? Beyond Roland, it is pretty scary with a tiny, quick guy coming off a knee injury, Cooper and Jones. Not likely to put the fear in opposing defenses. Just saying.

You honestly sound like a Georgia fan here pumping sunshine right now. Or like the Bama fans a couple of years ago that thought they'd easily replace that GOAT offensive line. Good luck with those expectations.

This isn't even close to true. 2010, '11, and '12 were all better, in every statistical category (rush D, TFL, Sacks) and our best year was probably 2011 with Ingram, Taylor, and Clowney.
Sutton was disappointing this year. He was supposed to take advantage of all the attention Clowney was getting. Well Quarles took that advantage.

SC has never recruited with the likes of Bama, Georgia, LSU, Florida, etc. and we seem to be doing okay.

And the year before we lost our entire 2 deep at LB. Freshman stepped in and played well and Skai Moore was put on the All-American Freshman team.

Marcus Lattimore is definitely in the conversation and really so is Shaw. Obviously we haven't seen what USC will be like post-Shaw but we're doing okay in the RB department.

Well, we're only losing one WR, admittedly our best, Bruce but we return everyone else that actually got significant PT. Byrd, Roland, Jones, and Cooper (another freshman AA) will be a good group. We've heard this argument about losing a top WR 3 years in a row now, Alshon, Ace, and now Bruce. Not to mention we have a very good TE corp.

I sound just like anyone else that is excited for the next season to start and is excited about their teams' expectations. You sound like the standard rival fan that is repeating the same thing each offseason hoping once it will all be right.

Bottom line is we've gone through replacing whole position groups before and we do reload, whether you think so or not.

We only lose 3 players on O, returning 4/5 of the OLine, and a great stable of RBs. If Thompson struggles at all, he can just let Mike Davis take over the game.
