The 21st century sports media has also perfected the art (nay, idiocy) of being prisoner of the moment to quite literally EVERYTHING in sports. Mike Vick is a sociopath, then all of a sudden he's rehabilitated because the Eagles were doing good in 2010. Roethlisberger is a tPOS serial rapist in early 2010, then he's suddenly a remorseful good guy when the Steelers make the Super Bowl. Cal is a job-hopping used car salesman after leaving Memphis, then he's a visionary after winning the NCAAT in 2012, then he's an idiot again after getting bounced from the NIT last year. LeBron is a choker, then he's the greatest player ever after winning a title. Eli is a bust, then good, then a bust again, then elite after a second ring, now overrated again.

It goes on and on and on. Essentially the only writers anymore who aren't beholden to the moment and actually have a little objectivity, pragmatism and insight are the guys at Deadspin.
