As far as pure athleticism the only thing Manziel probably has him beat on his change of direction in the open field. Overall I agree though. A focused McNeal in a scheme like ours or Oregon or Auburn would be a scary thing

During that era it seemed that I was constantly in arguements about Reggie being a superior athlete to Vince. Vince was bigger and could shed hits better, but Reggie was faster in a straight line and had an arm that was several orders of magnitude better. Reggie was actually a gunslinger - a throw-first guy famous for his huge arm - who just happened to also have a 4.35 40-yard dash. We haven't had a QB who could throw frozen ropes like that since. I mean lasers. Sadly, because he was fast, Fran stuck him in a throwback pure option attack that wasted his best attribute and frustrated and injured him. When SUMLIN was our OC his freshman year he had all the potential in the world.
