I think it is ridiculous to offer eighth graders and it is shameful for parents to allow their kid to commit this early. 8th graders simply don't have the ability to make the best long-term decisions for themselves. A majority of them haven't really thought about their life plan, or what else they want to pursue if football doesn't work out.

This kid's whole family on both sides played college football. His grandpa is his hs coach. I'm quite sure his life plan through college has been thought out by he and his family for some time.

But yeah it was shameful of Nick and Lane to try this exact same thing.

Im sure it would have been an excellent long term decision had he chosen Bama.

Again though what about life outside of football? How many eighth graders do you know that have a good long term plan for themselves? What if he discovers that he is passionate about a degree that LSU doesn't offer?
For the record I think it's retarded that we offered Dylan Moses. I'd still think it's retarded if he committed to Bama last year. His parents should have made him wait it out. Nothing good comes from being committed this early.
