https://southcarolina.247sports.com/Article/Sawyer-heading-to-JUCO-178395

He's going to JUCO right now, as in today. He just got his GED. By enrolling right now he's helping himself to transfer out of there quicker. I believe the SEC has a 2 or 3 consecutive semester rule about JUCO transfers, meaning they have to be at the school for 2 or 3 consecutive semesters. (it's the rule that kept Caldwell from coming here and going to AZ State.)

So Sawyer and the Coaches though believe that they have it worked out that he should be able to enroll at USC in the Spring of '15. So essentially it will be like he's just red-shirting this year. Although, when he enrolls at USC he will have 4 years to play 3.

Not entirely unexpected.

Pressure is on Wideman and Thomas to qualify.

The recent news on him is everything is on point, and he's coming.

Wideman

He's in a better situation Sawyer was with gpa. It will come down to a corresponding test score/gpa combo. We need him to qualify as I was expecting him to contribute on the 2 Deep. I think Thomas is going to end up starting though just b/c of his size/experience.

ahahaha

Im really not worried about this Sawyer situation. He wants to be at USC, we want him, we helped him setup this option and we'll see him next spring. He may go to this JUCO and start next season, so that might actually be better than not playing as much here this season. More reps, more practice, more experience, etc....

Plus, we will get to count him towards next year's recruiting class rankings.... he should be the #1 JUCO DE and another high 4 star.

Just to clarify. 247 had some inaccurate info initially. Sawyer will not be able to enroll at Carolina or any SEC for the Spring '15 semester as the SEC has a 3 semester transfer rule. So Sawyer will enroll at USC in the Summer 1 of '15.

I mean you have Dixon on one end and Sawyer or Thomas on the other. Harris and English are way too light to start. English got shoved around like a rag doll on run plays last year.

If Thomas doesn't qualify we could have some serious issues

eta- forgot about Blake McClain
