Engie or anyone who keeps up with our baseball recruiting , is there a reason as to why we don't have any of the dandy dozen?
Every one of those kids is a scum commit or usm commit.
Cohen is building our program back where it belongs and after our last 3 seasons (post seasons specifically) I can't figure out how the top talent in the state isn't lining up to come play for the best baseball program in the state.

The top talent in MS is coming to MSU. There just wasn't much top talent in MS this year. There were only about 5 guys in state that we chased at all -- one of which signed with LSU and is a big draft risk -- and the other of which signed with Ole Miss and is basically already gone in the draft. It was just a very down year for talent in MS -- combined with MSU taking a very small class overall and getting the majority of those players from AL, GA, TN...
We only had one total "signee" from the state of MS this year, and I'm not sure if he will actually be on scholarship or not(we do the whole dog and pony show for guys who we end up finding out are actually not on baseball money -- to allow us to "sign" more quality guys basically as walk ons)...
You'll see a vastly different list next year, when we've got 5 or 6 MS kids already in the boat.
Feel free to compare the Dandy Dozen accolades to our actual signees. LINK

I count 7 of 20 in the "underclassmen to watch" that I'm pretty sure already committed to MSU -- and several more there that are likely...

Ha, now that's more like it
Pitching and defense win you ballgames, how far do you think our staff can take us?

"Can"? All the way. And without needing to "come out of nowhere" to do it. We'll be front and center this year.
I want to win a regular season SEC title. We don't have one since 89. That's the logical goal. Postseasons in college baseball are just such a shite-shoot that if you base your expectations on them, you end up being on a constant roller coaster ride where decent years look great and great years look shitty. That said, Cohen seems to have an "it" factor in the postseason that Polk never did... We will see if that holds true longterm...

Exactly. I'm the same way.
It's very difficult to make it as far as we did and would be tough to get back that far and win it all.
So first, I'd like to also win a conference title. Have a really good regular season , earn that national seed that would give us unmatched home field advantage all the way to Omaha.
And at that point just take it game by game like last year.
But you're right , we're front and center this year. The spotlight is on us and I hope we can fulfill the high expectations .
