I'm not saying we have more money than them.
I'm saying we can field competitive offers for coaches if our HC or AD thinks we need them.
Back then our admin wouldn't do it.
They had an Old Army "the stuff you have is good enough" mentality that just didn't jive with the growing importance of money in college sports.
