This is why debating with you is a complete waste of time...because you do in fact take every statement at face value and refuse to consider the obvious that it is his job to go spin for his coaches. And when he does an obvious bad spin job, you think it's because he's stupid, or he thinks you're stupid, not because he's stuck.

Or because he's incredibly shitty at it. Which do you think is a better spin job?

1. If it’s too good to be true, it’s usually too good to be true. My job is to manage expectations that define reality. Let’s be realistic about what we’re trying to do.

OR

2. Unrealistic expectations in preseason polls are a major factor in major disappointments. Perfect examples are the Big 12 coaches preseason poll prior to the 2011-2012 basketball season and the extreme expectations for the 2013 football season. How many preseason #1 teams in college baseball have crashed and burned over the last couple of years?

Nor do you consider the fact that virtually every public statement by coach or AD at every school has an inside audience. When Sumlin says Trey Williams is "really good with the ball in his hands", it appears to be him praising Trey to the fanbase.

Do you think I'm stupid? Of course I know that he's telling Trey why Ben Malena is starting over him...because he needs to improve his blocking.

Not only that, Coach Sumlin has a reputation as knowing what he's talking about. Hyman has a reputation at South Carolina too...and not a good one.

But because it fits your world view, you would rather assume Hyman is stupid than empathize with the situation he's in or consider who he may be talking to.

I bet you give Jay Carney and Eric Shinseki the same benefit of the doubt, right?

Anyway, guy is returning. You go out and appear to support the frick out of him til he's not. It's really that simple.

You do what Bill Byrne did and give the Franchione "vote of confidence". You don't go over the top with terrible spin.

The same thing will be true when it comes to Childress and we all look forward to your melt if that happens

Childress did enough to save his job. Unfortunately, it's like when Slocum won the Big 12 in 1998. The best we'll ever do under Childress going forward is making a regional as a 2 or 3 seed. If and when that's deemed not good enough, action will happen.

All BS and joking aside, if this is where your expectations are, no team is ever going to satisfy you. Our coach "unfortunately" wins the conference? Good grief.
