COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A celebration is being held to mark the construction of a new home for the College of Mass Communications and Information Studies at the University of South Carolina.

Monday's event is at 11 a.m. on Preston Green, behind the former health sciences building near the historic Horseshoe on the Columbia campus.

The college is expected to move from the coliseum to the new site in time for fall classes in 2015.

Does anyone have a link or copy of that map with the campus and all of the projected building locations and where certain schools are moving to in 2016? Last I read the HRTM program is moving to the old Law School building once they complete a small renovation.

It needs far more than that. They should demolish it but they won't.

Where on Sumter and Greene is this new building going? Are they tearing down something?

Oh yeah. The law school raised the $76 million needed to build the new building, so that's fair, they should get a new one. The HRTM program has been looking for a new building since before even Dean Moody started there. However, they were looking for just over $40 million in donations to make that a reality. I saw the plans for it several years ago, it's going to look like an antebellum mansion and they wanted to be over near the Computer Science off blossom, but I also heard they were looking at the south Vista as well. I don't think the HRTM school is even half way to their goal for the construction.

School is growing so fast, new business school, now this. Plus the two new quads by the CLA and Coliseum that will make up the "new West Campus"

I'm not a big fan of how the campus is moving towards the river, though. Much less aesthetically appealing in that area. The Capstone-Wardlaw stretch beautiful.

I think really the campus is just expanding, I like moving a lot of the buildings towards the river, we just got to get rid of a lot of the rif raf first. Although, some of those students are going to have serious walks.
