I think that may be the only real answer at this point. Many of the names here are more a generation of more games in a season and hype of TV. Bo on the other hand had more athletic gifts, in several sports, than people give him credit for. Sometimes it is easy for people to forget how much of this current "once a generation" talk is just a marketing term that really does not compare talent longitudinally.

The generation before that might have to be Jim Brown. He was the last guy to be named 1st team all-american in two sports at the same time (football and lacrosse).
