Tennessee thought they were going to have a cake walk against us.

instead, they found out that south Alabama was a tough out.

but we lost a lot of guys off the front seven on defense after this past season.

we're supposed to play Mississippi state in Mobile this year. Also supposed to play @ South Carolina.

coach Jones and the staff have done well in recruiting... at least a lot better than what I'm sure people would have thought they would.

The absolute biggest contributor to the demise of Southern Miss has been the emergence of Louisiana-Lafayette as a top non-major and South Alabama as a good at home option for Mobile/Pensacola kids.

USM used to rake in non-SEC South Louisiana and Gulf Coast talent.
