I'm was an LSU vs. Ole Miss game, just my dad and me. I would have been 8 or 9. Would have been in either like 74 or 75, around in there.

To this day, I still remember the feeling (and I'm getting chills when I type this) I felt when I walked out of the concourse, and saw that sight for the first time. All the colors, and people, the field, the sounds, and smells. My eyes must have looked like saucers. The colors are what stand out almost 40 years later.

We got into the game early, and I asked my dad why "that" section in the corner was so full already. He explained to me that those were students, and they got to the game early, as their seats were not reserved.

Before the game, the Ole Miss cheerleaders ran around the entire stadium waving the Rebel flag - close to the stands. Dad told me to take note at what happens when it gets in front of "that" section. Like clockwork, a group of male students bailed out of the stands, and commenced to fighting the Ole Miss cheerleaders for that Rebel flag. Before the stars and bars got to "that" section, dad told me "it'll never make it around this whole stadium."

Ole Miss still played Dixie. When they played it for the first time, Dad said "stand up boy and take your hate off, they are playing the national anthem". And I'm pretty sure he meant it. And we were LSU fans!

I don't remember the score, or a single detail of the game, but the feeling I felt at my first sight of the innerds of a full Tiger Stadium are still as vivid as anything I've witnessed.

Thanks for making this thread. It brought back one of my fondest memories.
