I don’t think overall team stats necessarily signify a great position coach. But for arguments sake, here is what I’ve found.

Rush Defense (National Rank):
USC: 15th
Ole Miss: 51st
UGA: 41st

Sacks:
USC: 16th
Ole Miss: 37th
UGA: 78th

Now, I realize scheme and other variables can’t be measured for a position coach. But just looking at 2 key indicators, USC and Ole Miss performed as well or better in both areas. Am I saying they’re great coaches? No. But I believe their success on the sidelines as well as on the recruiting circuit make them appealing candidates.
