Wasn't there a big political family from Memphis that was somewhat corrupt? Knox? Ford?

In Memphis part of the Ford family is dirty as hell - they're a large family left over from Boss Crump days (some are good but some are old school corrupt). Boss Crump owned Memphis and the entire state of Tennessee - TIME magazine or maybe LIFE did a big story on the Dictator in America. There was time when he not only chose the Governors he chose every single judge and important person in office.

Knox County has had corruption for ages. It still operates like a small town would despite it's growth but it's getting slightly better because more and more new blood moves in -- still we had a DUI sheriff, a judge who was recently investigated by the TBI for being high on the bench and buying pills from one of the people he was supervising in drug court (an enormous number of cases are now subject to retrial because of him), we also recently had courthouse embezzlement as well as high ranking official smoking weed in the courthouse/justice center parking lot. And that's just off the top of my head.

What a SNAFU this whole thing was. I couldn't believe the Christian-Newsom families had to go through some of those trials again.

I remember the name Boss Crump. He basically sounds like another Huey. I'll have to read up a little on him, out of curiousity. Never really heard much of Knox county as a kid in Memphis, and I've only driven through Knoxville, so I didn't know they had always been corrupt.

You (LA) are the Auburn of corruption (you get publicly blamed for it).

We (TN) are the Bama of corruption (we do far more and get far less blame even when we get caught).

Knox County

Is this the county that the University is in? One of my friends got arreseted after the LSU game (Jamarcus drove down and scored with seconds left). They didn't release the LSU fans until 5:30 Sunday afternoon and we had to get home in time for work Monday morning. Last time I drive to Tenn.
