You take the knee. Sure you might lose the game but guess what (you did anyways).

The problem with that suggestion is that as a coach, you don't know that your player is about to bust a big 37-yard run all the way to the end zone. It would be up to that player to stop and kneel at the 1 when everything in the world instinctively is telling him to power it in the end zone with just over a minute left in the national championship with his team trailing.

It wasn't like Auburn's D was a joke all game either. They had sacked and hit Winston a number of times. That short pass that turned into 49 yards was the killer. Auburn didn't give up many huge plays on the day and that was the killer. FSU just gutted it out. It happens sometimes.

FSU's offense had tons of success in the 2nd half. I know immediately when he broke that run I thought, damn he should take a knee there's too much time.

From a coaching perspective you just tell your guys before they go out there, hey if you break a run and there's over a minute to go, take a knee at the 1. We have the best rushing offense in the country you kneel at the one, we'll put it in and we won't leave them any time to answer.

Why would you put your trust in a shaky defense instead of an outstanding running game? I guess you like to lose more games than you have to?

And for the guy saying Saban doesn't do this, Saban is much worse than Gus about game theory.

Saban won't stop the clock when the other team has the ball. If it's 3rd and 15 and there's 45 seconds left he doesn't use a TO so our offense gets a chance he lets them run it out for halftime.
