Honest question about motivation for Bama Fans...

Under Saban, Bama has done well in championship games, staying motivated even against outmatched opponents. Yet, they manage to underestimate inferior opponents in 'off' years (apart from the bowl game a few years ago against Michigan State). Is it just lack of motivation against underdog opponents? Or is it something else? Is it something Saban does wrong? Also, why would Bama underestimate Utah and OU while prepping well for Michigan State?

Well, against Michigan State, we had already lost to SC, LSU, and the comeback against Auburn that year. So maybe that team had more desire to prove themselves.
Whereas, in both the Utah and Oklahoma game, were undefeated and lost the last game game of the season, taking us out of the national championship picture, and putting us in the consolation bowl. No excuse, both teams came out and played very well against Bama. Oklahoma looked hungry tonight and staved off all attempts at a Bama comeback.
edit: or Bama just isn't as good as we thought

I had no idea that Oklahoma had such a good team. They just pretty much had their way with bama. Sometimes you have to play a team that is superior and you have to take your beating. Bama was super motivated for this game because they wanted to prove they were the best in the country. Motivation doesn't go well with delusion.

Saban loses his motivation when NCs are off the table, thus his team does.

It was basically a home game for bama. I really don't understand. The process should have taken care of itself.
