You can argue that the rematch shouldn't have happened, but the OP's argument was that the best team each year won the BCS National Championship.
Just because LSU shat the bed in one game doesn't mean Alabama was the better team that season. LSU had a much more impressive season. I'm not gonna say they were definitively better, but it's too close to call IMO.

BCS was great because it did what it was supposed to do, make 1 game. People got the BCS and BCS bowls confused.

top 4 seeds get byes
all conference champions get in and 4 "wild cards" with seeding
This year I would seed
FSU #1
AU #2
M Sr #3 - to avoid SEC senifinal
bammer # 4
Baylor #5
Stanford 6
- this year would be Bowling Green #12, etc
