Heard a rumor on CT that he will not be playing in the bowl game and will be transferring to Coastal after this year. Anyone with a little more knowledge care to corroborate or dismiss?

This would suck. Our only CB with major experience coming back next year.
frick if this is true

Basically. No real reasoning behind the rumor yet, some say to play baseball only and have a shot at MLB, some say grades, some say other shite, I have no idea.
All I know is, we better pick up some damn CBs this class. And if it is true, I don't see how Green can turn us down.

Guaranteed playing time for both him and DJ Smith if they come. We'd only have a few scholarship CBs left- and Ronnie Martin will be a senior.

Martin, McWilliams (if he can keep off the crutches) and who else?

Only two I knew off the top of my head.
Looking at the roster Ali Groves is the only other scholarship player. Sidney Rhodes might have a scholarship now but hes a former walk on.

Someone is circulating a rumor that he is going to Coastal and that the paperwork is already done ... he wants to play baseball and football at Coastal.
Who knows. I do know he is on a list of possibles - and that when I asked specifically about him I was told, "I'm not saying anything about anyone who may or may not be here next year right now."
Honestly, from his perspective, it would make sense.

that Marquez North miracle catch must be still giving him nightmares

Things is he played that really well.
I guess if he really wanted to play both sports it would make sense for him to transfer, but he has a very good chance at a starting spot next year. Why would he leave?

He would be crazy to transfer, unless he thinks he could start on Coastal's baseball team. They're a good team too though.

Just got a text from a buddy of mine over at Carolina saying it is now official, he's done and will not play in the Cap One Bowl. He is transferring to Coastal Carolina to play both football and baseball.

In all fairness, looks like that was in response to this though:

Yeah I think the "couldn't cut it" remark was about baseball, not football. Although in truth everything I've heard from Coach Holbrook indicated that Ahmad - and Shon for that matter - COULD cut it in baseball, but they just would be at a disadvantage not being with the baseball team practicing and scrimmaging during the fall, while the other baseball players were working hard during those times...
USC's baseball program is an elite program that's expected to contend for Omaha every season, and the talent on the roster are all top-notch talent that could play for most top programs. There are scholarship-level guys that try out for the squad every fall that fail to make it in, who devote 100% of their time working on their baseball skills.
To have those guys not make the team, and then allow football players who can't devote their time to baseball fully get in over them, when they themselves were highly rated baseball prep prospects too, is kind of unfair. And I think Christian, Carson, and Smith were behind a bit in development to those guys due to spending so much time on football.
There are plenty of schools out there with either mediocre FB programs or mediocre BB programs that would love to have those guys play both sports for them. But you'd have to be a clear-cut stud at baseball to warrant making the Gamecocks team only focusing part-time on baseball, and the Gamecock's baseball roster is overflowing with baseball studs....

I just read that Ahmad is transferring to a JUCO so he can be drafted after the upcoming season. He can't be drafted until he's 3 years out of HS at a 4 yr school, but the JUCO route let's him get a shot right away.
