I completely understand you're point of view and agree 100% that it is up to the Hog coaches, players and donors (via contributions) to make our program better. I certainly expect better than the tire fire we saw this year.

Recruiting in high school sports has been going on long before Gus ever showed up on the scene. Completely agree with that fact, although private schools outside Arkansas, like Evangel Christian, played up divisions. Shiloh initially didn't do that and did piss off a lot of people at little schools to the point they refused to play them in Jr high. Now Shiloh plays up and it is probably better for everyone all around.

Here's my perspective. My family and I have been at CrossChurch for years and we've prayed, worshipped and been active with the church. A place that prides itself on actively pursuing the Great Commission to bring their faith to others the world over. During our time there I have become sickened by the Gus supporters within the church and Shiloh community. They have been personally offensive, accusatory and gloated about Arkansas's struggles. The Thursday before the Auburn game, while dining at Neal's in Springdale the owner was sporting his Auburn hat and when asked who he was cheering for that weekend (which was done in a respectful manner) he replied that he not only is cheering for Auburn he hopes Arkansas doesn't win another game. He was angry. This isn't an isolated incident but I've seen this before from the Gus followers. They're confrontational and insulting.

All that to say, where is their witness in these actions? Great, they beat Berryville 72-6, but how is that representing their faith? How is insulting and/or being condescending to others in the community sending a Christian message? I'm done with them. I bite my tongue and remind them it's a game.

I liked Gus, he's a good coach, his teams are fun to watch and I have said he may have been a better choice for us. Evidently he was' tan option. Said the same about Briles and Gundy. The Gus ship gas sailed, time to move on. But I'm not supporting him or Auburn because of those annoying jokers around here who love him and because it isn't in the best interest of Arkansas.

Hey I get it, I really do. Some of my best friends here in LR are fans of other Universities (Auburn and Bama). I hear it everyday. Guess we have been able to take all of the trash talking at what it is and not let it impact our personal lives.

Also, I appreciate you post and good luck on finding a new home to worship. Seems like some of the folks at your old home have their priorities messed up and need our prayers.

I understand your dilemma, and am sorry you're having to leave the church you have attended for years. It is beyond shameful that certain members of that church have caused such animosity and division over this "Gus" issue. Just inexcusable in a place of worship. Obviously, they're missing the point of being there and how they should and should not treat others.

Yes, and 2 of those things do not belong in church, imo. It sounds like some of the members' priorities are misplaced.
