FWIW regarding early announcements ...

As you know, Clowney is gone. Quarles is gone. I've now confirmed that Hampton is declaring regardless of how things go in these next two games. You might say ... straight from the horse's mouth.
Was also told that Quarles was encouraged to go-ahead and declare as that was going to be a major part of Abu Lamin's decision making process between Tennessee and us.
As stated in the subject line ... FWIW. No real news, just confirmations.
Oh, and ESPN cut some special shots Saturday that they are going to use on the SEC Network next season - shots of fans. They're going to get some more during the Clemson game but the way it was described to me they are planning a big-time roll-out for the A&M opener on the SEC Network next season.

Hopefully Hampton leaving can help us get guys like DJ Smith or Wesley Green

I hope Hampton has an AMAZING season the rest of the way. He probably knows he has to pad the stats to get drafted higher.
He didn't get to show out a lot against UF, b/c they hardly passed the ball.

Robinson is also talking less about leaving and Cann is talking more.

Don't think either of those guys are going early, especially Corey Robinson who would be a free agent ... he wouldn't be drafted. But you're right, if it is either of those it'll might be Cann I suppose.
I think, from what I've heard, a lot of people are speculating about Cann because he recently made some remarks about "wanting to be remembered" a certain way. But people also forget that he and Dylan are very close, they are roommates, and they have committed to one another to have a big season next year.
Busta Anderson was the only other one I was really aware of talking a lot about declaring early - but he's quit doing that and he seems to be back on track mentally in terms of practicing harder and talking a lot less smack in practice and off the field.

A lot of people are still predicting Robinson to go in the first 3 rounds and Walter Football still has him going in the 2nd.
A lot will depend on the last few games, but I think Cann could get drafted in the 4th or earlier if he left now.

Are we referring to the same Robinson? "Corey" Robinson? In this next upcoming draft? In the first 3 rounds? Even in 6 rounds, or 7? "Corey" Robinson? Our left tackle?

Yep, I shite you not. He's getting a lot of talk by draft "experts."

Walt picks him to go 2nd Rd, #46 Overall to the Titans

Charlie movied Robinson up his board last week.
Now has him going 2nd Rd, #41 Overall to NYG.
BehindTheSteelCurtain
Projects him in the 2nd Rd as well, to the Titans again.
There are also a lot of small profile draft gurus who like Robinson in the 2nd Rd, like Josh Mitchell.
JoshMitchell Blog
He has in going 2nd Rd, #61 Overall to Nawlins.
None of these are Gamecock sites, or written by Pro Gamecock writers with ties to USC. It's just people who have enjoyed projecting the draft for years and in Walter Football's case, being pretty accurate on many of the picks.

Damn ... and not a peep coming out of the staff or teammates about him going early.
Man I must be losing my keen eye because I just don't see it. He's not that good. He needs another year. He could be really good next year, and everyone is talking about the strides he's made, but he's still got a ways to go. Heck, I gotta bite my lip but ... sheesh, Corey is a good kid, really good kid, but he's still fighting for his job almost weekly.

I agree with all that. He needs another years, but what Pro Scouts are seeing is that he has the size that one can't teach.
It would look really good to that Havelock pipeline for us to send the first one they sent to us to the NFL a year early though.

A.J. came out today in the press conference and said he is sending in paper work, but he's coming back next season.
I also did some checking last night and, at least based upon what I was told, Corey Robinson has also said he's not even considering going early - he's ignoring all the talk and coming back next year to help protect his buddy Dylan in the pocket. Matter of fact, he's said he needs to work on his pass blocking so he is definitely coming back for another season.
But Hampton, Quarles and of course Clowney are gone.
The coaches are saying they're losing eight scholarship players - I am assuming one of those is a walk-on who was awarded an available schollie.
With regard to Frye, they are not going the grant or academic schollie route ... they are awarding him a full ride football scholarship in January.

Nice, he deserves it. Maybe we should do this with all our kicker/punter type players. Get them in and see that they can perform before giving them a scholly. The last two we brought in through scholarship have been busts.

With regard to St Germain, they probably would have kept him for kick offs and long range FGs except for two things ...
1 - they are short on schollies.
2 - Spurrier has demonstrated he is no longer interested in anything longer than 45 yards, and Frye has proven he's capable of putting those through.
St Germain is a big legged talent. I've seen him kick the ball into the stands with regularity, and I watched him hit a 65 yarder in practice with room to spare. He was more a victim of karmic circumstances than a bust. Frye has the "it" factor going for him. Cool, calm and collective. Joe Rob's one bright spot this year.

AJ Cann said today that he's staying for his Sr season!!!
Also, Cann thinks Corey is staying!
ETA, I just saw Rooster pointed that stuff out yesterday.
If we return 4 of the 5 OL, and really 6 on the OL, b/c Rory will come back too, that is going to be EXTREMELY positive for whoever our QB is next season. (Most likely Dylan, unless one of the young bucks does something special.)

No kidding. Mike D plus that beastly line would take a ton of pressure off

Plus we've got a couple of redshirted freshmen OLinemen who are going to be special.
And don't forget David Williams will be toting the seed next year behind Davis, Wilds and Carson. Plus we return all of our TEs.
